Steven has more than 26 years of experience in leadership and business management. He has held various senior management positions in the past and is known for mentoring and coaching management teams.

His extensive experience of profiling in the different job functions, industries and corporate structures, has imbued him with an in-depth knowledge of organizational and individual needs.

Jace is the co-author of more than 10 HR related books and was invited to speak on LIVE 93.8 FM on HR development. His personal book is called ‘Released Your Handbrake’.

Kim Yuan is the grandson of the late Madam Lee Ah Mooi who started the Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home in the mid-1960s, with a capacity of 110 beds at Thomson and 132 beds at Silat. Its long history, coupled with its philosophy of affordability and personalized eldercare, makes it one of the pioneer nursing homes in Singapore. Kim Yuan strongly believes in establishing strong links and strengthening the channels of communication and coordination will lead to optimal care and treatment for the residents. As the Administrator of the nursing home, he works very closely with the different stakeholders on quality improvement projects to ensure that the nursing home is able to attain the new enhanced standards. Kim Yuan is a firm believer in continuous improvement, as to change is difficult and not to change is fatal.

The nursing home has received the prestigious National Health IT Excellence Award 2017 for successfully implementing a web-based system that enables staff from various departments to easily access, update and share residents’ information. This annual award recognises initiatives and individuals that have achieved healthcare excellence through IT.

Matthew Quek

Speaker Profile:
Matthew Quek (郭光正) is a trained teacher with a Masters in Educational Research Methods. He has accumulated more than ten years’ experience in teaching History and Humanities to students while preparing them for N, O, and A Levels, as well as the International Baccalaureate diploma. He has taught in various schools such as St. Joseph Institution (Independent), Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) and Zhong Hua Secondary School. Through the years, he has developed well-tested methodologies in equipping students with writing techniques as well as helping them form clear and succinct thesis statements in their written work.

Matthew suffered an early childhood injury that impaired his ability to learn. This condition was only diagnosed much later in his life in the midst of his National Service duties.

He learned though, with the help and belief of others who never gave up on him, to cope with this disability, and became an overcomer in life, attaining various noteworthy goals beyond what he could have imagined possible, given the constraints he faced since young.

In his bid to contribute to society and to encourage those who are deemed by others to be slower, Matthew produced a movie about his own struggles and how he overcame great odds to achieve success and meaning in life.

In this session, Matthew will screen the movie he produced- “Unbroken: 不倒翁”. This will be followed by a sharing session on how to cultivate precious traits of “Resilience, Motivation & Drive” in the midst of adversities.
